Kylian Mbappé's Representatives Deny Rape Allegations and Announce Legal Action Against Swedish Media

A representative for Kylian Mbappé has condemned recent reports in the Swedish press alleging that the French soccer star is under investigation for rape, calling the accusations “totally false and irresponsible.”

Swedish outlets, including public broadcaster SVT and Expressen, reported that Mbappé was “suspected on reasonable grounds of rape” following a visit to a Stockholm nightclub and hotel on October 10. These reports cite documents and a police report claiming there are specific circumstances indicating that Mbappé may have committed the act.

Swedish prosecutors confirmed that a criminal report was filed with the police after media outlets began circulating the allegations, but did not name any individuals or provide further details.

In response to the reports, Mbappé took to X (formerly Twitter) to dismiss the claims as "FAKE NEWS," after a similar story was shared by French outlet RMC Sport, which later deleted its post.

Speaking through a public relations firm, Mbappé’s representative denounced the reports from Swedish media, particularly Aftonbladet and Expressen, stating, “These accusations are totally false and irresponsible, and their spread is unacceptable. Kylian Mbappé will not tolerate any attack on his integrity, reputation, or honor based on unfounded insinuations. All necessary legal actions will be taken to restore the truth and pursue those responsible for the defamation and moral harassment that Kylian repeatedly endures.”

Mbappé’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, also spoke out on French television, defending her client and labeling the reports as a “slanderous denunciation.” She confirmed that Mbappé was in training on Tuesday and remained calm despite the media frenzy. She further emphasized, “A complaint does not make the truth.”

Real Madrid, Mbappé's current club, has yet to comment on the situation. According to AFP, Mbappé had traveled to Stockholm last week, spending Thursday and Friday in the Swedish capital.
